Baku Roasting Company
The brainchild of American ELT teachers Dina and Dan, who decided that they needed a second business to sit alongside their English School and lamented the difficulty they had in finding a decent cup of coffee, the Baku Roasting Company is the only place in Baku to roast its own beans. You can buy the beans – and a plethora of other caffeinalia, including affordable French presses/cafetieres – whole or ground, as well as brewed up into whatever takes your fancy, perhaps accompanied by a slice of their awesome pumpkin cheesecake. The lively café functions as much as a community centre for the English language students as coffee shop, and the management also holds regular non-profit making exhibitions of photography, arts, handicrafts and the like. Plans are also afoot to market the beans through other outlets and even supply coffee wholesale – so watch out for the BRC logo.
