From the same management as the excellent Scalini (see Eat) and The Lounge (see Drink), The Sunset Café is a Baku institution. Located in a hard to miss spot on the side of the – sadly, now all Russian or Azeri language – cinema. The ever-busy Sunset Café is also one of the most popular meeting places in town with groups of young-uns, families and ex-pats, in fact a crowd that pretty much represents every social group in town. With a spot-on diner and Tex-Mex menu; Hollywood mugshots and movie posters plastered all over the bare brick walls and the odd screaming neon sign, it looks the part as much as it tastes it. Wednesday night is Tex-Mex extravaganza, though the bowls of steaming hot, spicy chilli; burgers and all day breakfasts hit the spot on any day of the week.
