When the Hyatt Regency first opened its doors back in 1996 it enjoyed a brief monopoly on the business travel market. As other chains have opened the Hyatt has been forced to up its game and has responded in style. As we go tornpress, the Regency renovation is all but complete and the results are stunning. Rooms are done out in subtle shades of muted greys, mauves and creams and create a relaxed, sophisticated atmosphere. The communal areas alsornshine, with The Grill (see Eat), The Gourmet Shop (see Snack) and the Beluga Bar (see Drink) all making the grade for inclusion in these hallowed pages. And, of course, if the Regency is looking this good, we can only wait with bated breath to see what is done with the Hyatt’s flagship brand the Park Hyatt, whose renovation is also set for completion in 2010.
