A great place for a romantic date, Mosto was opened a couple of years ago by Latin chef Daniel Urdaneta, formerly of Salt. Connected to the über-hip Scandinavian-Chinese design shop Chang & Biörck, it’s not a shock that Mosto features candlelit brick walls and a long, dark wood bar. Nab a table on the balcony that overlooks the mosaic courtyard of Nali Patio. Chef Urdaneta’s training at the Instituto Culinario in Caracas is evident in the South American influenced sea bass ceviche with corn foam and rib-eye steak with chimichurri sauce. A nod to local cuisine can be seen in the homemade Szechuan pepper ice cream. There is also an excellent range of wines to pair with your meal that won’t break the bank – try a Chilean sauvignon blanc or a red from the Mendoza region of Argentina. We’re sure you’ll get a second date.
