Hg2 : The Hedonist

CSA Bar

CSA (pronounced Ché-Ess-Ah) opened around ten years ago, heralding the current wave of interesting new cocktail bars in Berlin. Located in the former offices of the Czechoslovakia’s national airline offices, the rectangular space was designed by Rene Flatau, the owner of the bar, who has received many an award for his eye-catching interiors. It has a super-stylish minimalist Soviet feel that’s inevitably popular with a media crowd who lounge around on the leather couches, looking good under the stylish lights and sipping excellent cocktails. Like Babette (formerly KMA) further along the road, CSA has broad glass windows that look out onto East Germany’s historical boulevard. DJ’s play at weekends, but never too loudly, and the service is both friendly and efficient. It’s a little out of the way, but a taxi is a small price to pay for an evening in such a memorable and dedicated space
