A little off the beaten track, Cafe Schonbrunn is an elevated Berlin park café well worth the trek on a warm summer’s day. Floor to ceiling windows flood the space with light and give fantastic views of the park’s swan lake and Japanese garden. The 1970s styled interior with accordant furnishings deceptively betrays the café’s fledgling four years. As night falls, cocktails are served at the James Bond-style bar, lined with bulbous white stools. During the summer months, crowds spill onto the large veranda and DJs spin the decks in the adjacent Garden Restaurant; the owners hope to open a new open air lounge with Mediterranean kitchen soon. The vibe is young and effortlessly cool. Look out for the fairy-tale fountain and socialist realist art elsewhere in the park, although a little tricky to find in the dark!
