Waldorf Astoria
Berlin’s unique style and character is somewhat amiss at the Waldorf Astoria. The generic façade of a modern skyscraper might put some off, but if you’re able to look past this then the highest standards of luxury and comfort await. Rooms are kitted out with Italian marble bathrooms, under floor heating and a television delightfully integrated into the bathroom mirror. ‘Business chic’ is certainly the flavour here, with five conference rooms, a ballroom and an event terrace all waiting to be charged to the company account. However, even if you’re not looking to schmooze your latest clients, the views alone are reason enough to stay here, with panoramic windows in every room that look out towards Kaiser Willhelm Memorial church. In many ways the Waldorf has been modelled after its New York counterpart, meaning that you might not know you’re in Berlin if you stay here. Still, at least you’ll not be left wanting for anything.
