This pan-Alpine restaurant in Berlin keeps the snowy theme with light, airy interior and food inspired by all alpine (French, German, Italian and Austrian) cuisine. During the day Schneeweiss hosts a young crowd who sip lattes or chatter busily over light lunches of grilled fish, while in the evening the menu becomes richer, incorporating schnitzels and käsespätzle (cheese noodles). Though open all day, evenings are when Schneeweiss is at its best, the coolly blanched interior is illuminated by candles and an eye-catching, all-white ‘ice’ chandelier. Despite the hipster concept, Schneeweiss maintains a neighbourhood atmosphere, reflected in the reasonable prices. Cocktails and a good selection of wines are served, and don’t forget to leave room for the wonderful apple strudel.
