Everybody’s done coffee, it started with the international behemoths, which led to specialist coffee shops and stores mixing their Javan with their Colombian, but tea is the next big thing to hit Berlin’s shops. And there is nowhere hipper than P&T (Paper & Tea, don’t you know!). Born out of an insatiable passion for tea the store is part-shop, part-tea school – the aim is to educate customers and broaden their palate – no more plain old Twinings Earl Grey. The shop’s decor is straight out of the Wallpaper* handbook of design cool, with all the teas laid out in little boxes to encourage consumers to sniff, read, learn and buy – the staff will even give visitors tasting sessions. The store has a range of tea pots to brew and serve in, cups to sip from, trays to carry on and other accoutrements to aid preparation. They do tea seminars with visiting tea experts, tea pairing lessons to get the most out of a menu and will even cater your events.
Oh, and less we forget the P side of the P&T – they also do a fine range of cards, pads, wrapping paper and notebooks – to write down your tasting notes, obviously.
