Hg2 : The Hedonist

Panamericano

Sight-seeing could not be easier at the Panamericano. If you close one eye when facing Avenida 9 de Julio – said to be the widest avenue in the world – from the hotel, you will still see either the obelisk or the opera house. The Obelisco, which marks the centre of the city, and the Teatro Colón, with its famed acoustics, perch right in front of the Panamericano’s two 23-floor towers.
rn
rnWith 363 rooms, it’s surprising how few guests soak up the view from the North Tower’s rooftop pool aquarium, a vantage point from which almost every postcard photo you see of Buenos Aires’ obelisk will have been taken.
rn
rnThe rooms are in the classic Ritz Carlton style of oak furniture and all have soundproofed glass to keep the roar of taxi horns afuera. No matter how soft the complimentary bath robes may be in the rooms that face the river, it’s not worth staying here unless your window looks onto Avenida 9 de Julio.
rn
rnResident restaurant Tomo Uno is also a must on your travel itinerary, while Museo del Jamón (see Snack) and tango hotspot Café Tortoni (see Party) are a few minutes’ walk away, as is mega club Big One.
