Hg2 : The Hedonist

A Hedonist’s guide to…

Cape Town

Glen Beach
Surf's up dude! Glen Beach caters to the board short-wearing shaggy haired crowd with massive swells and pristine sand.
Blouberg
Blouberg is best for wind- and kite-surfing so be sure to bring a sense of adventure with you.
Llandudno & Sandy Bay
Llandudno and Sandy Bay both boast beautiful white sand; the latter is an unofficial nudist beach too meaning those who want to whip off their shorts and hang free can.
Muizenberg
Gentle waves and picture postcard beach hunts mean that Muizenberg is magnet for families and children.
Smitswinkelbaai
It may be something of a slog to get to but Smitswinkelbaai is worth every ache and pain.
Clifton
Consistently ranked among the world's top ten beaches Clifton is made up of four separate beaches; one with a prestigious Blue Flag rating.
Bakoven
Those seeking a stretch of sand without people sprawling across it should head here to Bakoven.
Camps Bay
As one of Cape Town's most accessible beaches you'd expect Camps Bay to be tourist hell; but it isn't and remains one of the prettiest stretches of sand in the city.
Platboom
Beautiful white sand dunes don't characterise beaches often but that's exactly what Platboom is famous for.
St. James
The tidal pool is the best bit about St James and is a refreshing - if not slightly bracing - way to start any day.
Boulders
If it's a good enough beach for a colony of penguins to settle on it then it's certainly good enough for us to sprawl on.
Long Beach/Noordhoek
Long Beach/Noordhoek attracts both surfers and horseriders thanks to its powderdy white sand.
Hout Bay
No swimming! At least not if you want to remain unchomped by a Great White. Still this beach is home to some picture postcard scenery and a slew of good waterfront restaurants and bars.
Scarborough
Scarborough beach is home to pristine white sand and one of the quietest villages on the Peninsula.
