Hg2 : The Hedonist

Bread & Wine

A one-page menu and a vine-covered courtyard with tables under umbrellas: Mediterranean restaurants in Cape Town  like Bread & Wine pretend to offer you the simple life. Then peruse that menu, and you realize that the lazy farm setting is a ploy- Chef Neil Jewell’s creative imagination produces some of the Franschhoek Valley’s rarer taste sensations. Amongst his notorious (and delicious) creations is his famous charcuterie antipasto plate (don’t miss this starter); grilled swordfish; a truffle risotto finished with Auriccho cheese, and his unmissable tuna boerewors-first concocted for a competition the latter turns the traditional South African farmer’s sausage” on its head
