Grand Hotel des Alpes
Built in 1840, Grand Hotel des Alpes is one of the oldest hotels in Chamonix. But that doesn’t mean it’s lost any of its original charm or class, with a renovation in 2004 updating it for modern-day guests; inside are 30 rooms and suites decked out with the kind of rustic wood panelling and roaring open fireplaces expected of a stylish ski stay.
Downstairs is a cosy terrace lounge bar with views out over Mont Blanc, while more relaxation can be enjoyed in the wave pool, hot tub, steam room or sauna. A central location near the Aiguille du Midi ski life and Mer de Glace glacier adds to the hotel’s cachet.
