Soho House Istanbul

A worthy addition to Soho House’s luxurious stable of hotels-cum-private members’ clubs, Soho House Istanbul is housed within the fully-restored Italian-style 19th century Palazzo Corpi. Well, there and the adjacent glass-walled annex. The better to let plenty of natural light flood all those sumptuous interiors, of course. Soho House Istanbul is, in a word, gorgeous.

Lovingly, lavishly decorated throughout, there’s a high-ceilinged, leather-bedecked Club Bar on the first floor, a sleek Games Room, an elegant candle-lit Dining Room with wooden accents, a Morning Room upholstered in muted but colourful velvets for all-day dining, and a late night bar on the second floor where guests can recline, relax and listen to live music and DJ sets. Not to mention a private screening room and a rooftop terrace with views out over the water. Everywhere you look there are well-trod kilim rugs, buttery-soft leather, gleaming mirrors, glittering chandeliers. Roaring fireplaces and frescoes. Parquet floors and marble. And it’s wonderful.

Those are just a few of the “house” parts of Soho House Istanbul. Of course, there’s also the very popular Cecconi’s Istanbul, offering fine Northern Italian fare, well-made cocktails, and a hefty dose of Soho House style for those not lucky enough to be members. The Glass Building at the Soho House Istanbul houses The Allis, meanwhile, which is also open to the public throughout the day for light bites, afternoon tea, craft cocktails. And on the second floor, Naavah offers a taste of the Middle East come dinnertime.

There are 87 rooms at Soho House Istanbul, which range from the disarmingly honest “Tiny” rooms to the Mezzanines and, at the very top, the Apartment. But don’t let the moniker at the lower end dissuade you. While some rooms are on the petite side, they’re so luxurious you won’t even notice, with walk-in rainforest showers, Egyptian cotton sheets on the king-sized beds, Cowshed products, and the same beguilingly cool decor – think distressed walls and effortlessly chic furnishings. The Apartment, however, is a stunner. Modern and marvellous, the large space includes an outdoor terrace with its own BBQ and jacuzzi, as well as a kitted out kitchen, dining room, and bar.
