Bored with worthy monuments? Pushed for time? Then MiniaTürk, located on the Golden Horn, could be the ticket for you. This large park contains 105 splendid models of the historical and cultural sites of Turkey all at 1:25 scale. See the Aspendos Theatre, the Süleymaniye Mosque, the Sumela Monastery, as well as a mini Bosphorus complete with sailing ships. There is also a miniature railway network, a motorway with moving vehicles and an airport with thousands of human figures and planes. While it’s aimed predominantly at children, it’s fun for grown-ups, too, not least because of the summer-only go-kart track out front. The Rahmi M Koç Museum (www.rmk-museum.org.tr) nearby is also fun for kids, with airplanes, a model railway track and a real-life submarine to explore.
