Taboo is a beautifully decorated downtown all night club in Beirut that has been doing a booming business for the last few years. Lights are kept very low and the ceiling glitters with fibre-optic lights that continually change colour. Because of its location, Taboo, attracts a Gulf tourist clientele alongside its regulars, some who come early to eat and others who come late to party. Dancing on the bar and on the tables is as encouraged as everywhere else, while the DJ spins an R&B/Arabic pop mix. Unfortunately some of the most gorgeous women hanging out at the bar are likely to be working and may only respond if you look the part. Taboo is a dark club where the night ends when the last client leaves and where the barmen work hard on their drinks – try the Dirty Martini! Again the security is selective and largely depends on how good you look – so be prepared for rejection and always remain polite.
