Vallon de la Selle

There are a number of south-facing runs in the Vallon de la Selle that are very good, particularly in spring snow down to St. Christophe en Oisans. We have skied in very good corn snow conditions at the end of the season as the sun melts and softens the snow underfoot to make it feel almost like mid-winter powder. These runs are the perfect example of what the Alps are best for; skiing down the back sides of mountains on long and interesting off-piste routes that end up in a remote mountain villages and other locations. The descent here is around 1,500-metres and it makes for a full excursion as you feel you have completed a proper and adventurous off-piste run. Some people may not like the effort required to get back, but in our opinion this is what makes for a full and interesting day out. The Vallon de la Selle is a favourite area of ours.
