You can bet that when Daniel Boulud finally made a foray into the wine bar biz, he did it with a bang. Or, more like it, a Champagne-cork pop. This gorgeous, long, wine cave-esque spot, located across the way from construction-addled Lincoln Center, is bubbling over with fun design details, like the wine bottle rests built into booths and designed to look like riddling racks and red-splat paintings that are exactly what they appear to be – representations of wine stains raised to a higher art.
Fish purveyor Louis Rozzo loves the long counter “dining solo is best for me at Bar Boulud”, and we are enamored by the house-made charcuterie – the best you’ll find this side of the Seine. Wine director Daniel Johnnes’s venerable talents not only created an exciting wine list, but one that also is shockingly affordable.
