No trip to Moscow is complete without a trip to the Italian eaterie, Momo. This restaurant is charming, from the brightly coloured flowers which cover the outside of the three-storey building to the delicious food.
Downstairs, there’s a cosy, fiery orange/red room with a bar, where a number of tables are separated by muslin curtains; the textured walls are covered with cheerful art, and a large glass screen and chandelier give this area a nostalgic, decadent feel.
Upstairs there’s the ‘leopard’ lounge area – complete with leopard-print sofas and chairs – linked via a staircase to the summer veranda at the rear of the building, which is covered with amusing mosaics and packed full of flowers.
All the spaces are small enough to lend an air of intimacy to dinner. The French-Italian menu is of a high quality, and to finish off the rich scented tobacco of the hookah pipes will ensure that you feel thoroughly relaxed.
Momo has an air of opulence, yet is an informal and cosy place to dine.
