Housed in London’s iconic Savoy hotel, The American Bar, one of the city’s oldest cocktail bars, exudes elegance and old-school cool. Led by Erik Lorincz – the ‘Best International Bartender’ as dubbed by “Tales of the Cocktail” – the bar team are the cream of the crop, and the cocktail list, as one might expect, is intelligent, extensive and exquisitely presented.
The American Bar’s drinks range from the time-honoured to the innovative, with many old-school classics being given a contemporary twist. There are even some interestingly tempting non-alcoholic mixes, including an Oreo cookies and cream concoction. Despite the high-end, and often après-work clientele, not to mention the to-be-expected prices, the atmosphere at The American Bar is relaxed and unstuffy; a live jazz pianist plays nightly and the crowd are a friendly and stylish mix.
