Experimental Cocktail Club
Walking through the bustle of Chinatown in London, you might notice some of the city’s well-heeled walking past the best dim sum joints. Following, you might notice them walk up to a non-descript door and slip inside. If they’ve planned ahead, they might have a reservation that’ll secure them a seat in the dimly-lit, deeply luxe space upstairs. Happily, they accept walk-ins too, so simply walking on over and trying your luck is likely to work just as well. You’ve just found the Experimental Cocktail Club.
Once inside, the space opens up to various bar areas. It’s like a jewellery box. All gleaming metal accents and plush velvets. But it’s the bars that will draw the attention first – that’s where the drinks can be found.
The drinks at the Experimental Cocktail Club are indeed experimental. They use exciting ingredients, mixed in clever, creative ways. But, rest assured, there’s nary a test tube in sight. Instead chunky tumblers of sensational drinks. This is more member’s club chic, where the entrance required is a love of great drinks (plus £5 after 11pm), rather than lab fabulous.
The drinks list can be daunting – after all, how do you choose when they all sound so good? But if in doubt, your best bet is to put yourself in the hands of the talented bartender. Then all you need to do is settle back and wait to be wowed.
