Heads + Tails
While there’s little reason to venture out to West Hampstead, the launch of Heads + Tails makes a refreshing detour from the well-worn cocktail crawls of central London.
Duck inside the bijou bar and it’s all teal velvet sofas and petit gold tables, with a bold botanical backdrop and a secret garden (read: smoker’s corner) at the back. This is the Heads aspect of the equation, where the menu features light, frothy favourites. Dove is the real crowd-pleaser here – an appealing muddle of Pisco and jasmine finished with a lively froth of Prosecco. Aperol Spritz gets a bergamot and mandarin makeover, and there is, of course, a very good Espresso Martini.
As the night wears on, head downstairs to Tails, a decadent candle-lit dive bar. Here the menu swaggers with a sophisticated hand of bourbon-based cocktails, and pale ale is paired ingeniously with single malt. Easy beats are put on for those in the mood for a party, and late opening hours make this a popular go-to for NW6’s cool crowd.
