The Hoxton
Put simply, The Hoxton Hotel aims to offer the experience of the best boutique hotels in London on a lower budget. Although slightly cliche, the Hoxton’s exposed brick, high ceilings and oversized hanging lamps in the huge lobby are a nod to East London’s oh-so-hip industrial chic vibe, while deep leather loungers and baronial fireplaces take the space up a notch from hipster. Rooms are undeniably cosy: red fabric lamps cast a warm glow over simple, curvy furniture, down duvets and flatscreen TVs, and while bathrooms are devoid of actual tubs, slate-tiled power showers feel suitably stylish (the Pears Soap and C O Bigelow shampoo don’t hurt, either). The absence of mini-bars is a minor quibble but the atmospheric lobby bar’s comprehensive cocktail list should adequately quench thirst; besides, half the point is that Hoxton is on your doorstep. The other half is budget: they occasionally run a Ryanair-style ‘£1 sale’, but with rooms available at £79 pretty much every night of the year, The Hoxton is undeniably bargainous.
