Hg2 : The Hedonist

Arabica

From Israel to Turkey, the Levant crosses thousands of miles – and encompasses a truly stunning culinary range. Little wonder, then, that the stellar Arabica reaps plenty of inspiration from the region. Dishes stretch from Turkish cacik (strained yogurt dip) to Greek Taramasalata, from Armenian lahmacun flatbread to Palestinian fattoush. Even if you’re not well-versed in za’atar, haven’t brushed up on your hummus politics and can’t tell your rosewater from your ras-el-hanout, you will, by meal’s end, have no lingering doubts about the stunning breadth of flavours at play. The interior of Arabica, which abuts Borough Market, manages to be cosy and modern at the same time, with its large windows and contemporary fixtures – and it feels even more homely with truffle-scented man’ousheh and an Arak cocktail in front of you.
