Duck & Waffle
Just when you think you’ve got the menu at Duck & Waffle sussed, there’s another surprise waiting for you. One visit you might try the BBQ-spiced pig’s ears, the next fresh baked bread and hand-churned butter, and top it off with some foie gras crème brûlée with pork crackling brioche. While largely British in influence, there are American (don’t miss the pork and apple corn dog with chipotle mayo) and other international twists throughout. And since it serves food 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there are plenty of opportunities to munch your way through all the dishes.
Located on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower in London’s financial district, Duck & Waffle is the highest restaurant in the country. And perched at 230 metres above the bustle of the city streets, the views here are amazing. Especially when enjoyed while tucking into the restaurant’s eponymous dish, the Duck and Waffle, which comes with crispy duck leg confit, a fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup.
The interiors here are a mash up of industrial minimalism and old world glamour, with plenty of stainless steel and frosted glass set against aged wood and white marble accents. It’s an atmospheric spot with everyone from bankers unwinding with drinks and snacks at 2am to families enjoying Sunday brunch. And, with Duck & Waffle open all day long, you can exceed your monthly-recommended salt and sugar intake morning, noon and night if you wish. The temptation is dangerously appealing.
