One of the most eclectic restaurants in Madrid, Le Marquis has taken the interesting theme of ‘fetish’ as its point of departure, mixing 18th-century French decoration with large-format photos of Marquis de Sade-style naughtiness. To add an extra touch of erotica, the chairs wear corsets and the tabletops are mirrored.
The food at Le Marquis is average, but the clientele are attracted more by the novelty of the venture than the fine dining – or lack thereof. Make sure you’re looking cool and try your best to make it past the bouncer to enjoy the pole dancing area in the basement lounge. The particularly adventurous can give the pole a test-drive themselves, helped along by the tunes supplied by local DJs from the Pacha stable.
