Menara Gardens

The Menara Gardens are a great little place to visit in Marrakech, consisting of a large basin of water surrounded by fertile orchards. The water basin goes back to the 12th-century Almohad era, although the green pavilion (which affords great views of the basin from the first floor) was added in the 19th century. The basin is supplied via an old hydraulic system that pumps water in from the mountains 30km away. It’s a popular spot for Marrakshis, who come to spot carp swimming in the water, stroll in the orchards or take a picnic in the pavilion.
