Riad Dar Darma
Found within Marrakech’s Medina, Riad Dar Darma is a sumptuous Moroccan boutique hotel, with 18th century period details and a healthy dose of Italian style, courtesy of the owner. Each of the four suites and two apartments at Riad Dar Darma are generously sized and individually decorated with a curated collection of antiques, velvet sofas, modern art and monochrome vases, making for a vaguely palatial stay. But the two-bedroomed Red Apartment is the runaway standout – even the owner thinks so, requesting it when he visits – with handpainted wooden ceilings, carved archways, leather chairs, a whole spectrum of red hues, and a fireplace.
Antique wooden doorways here lead to public spaces looking out onto Riad Dar Darma’s chic pool area and there are a handful of dining areas where guests can enjoy Chef Maria’s Moroccan cuisine for lunch or dinner, if booked in advance (the chef also offers cooking classes). There’s a hammam for guests to use and unwind in, a library, terraces with mountain views, and massages and facials can be arranged in-room upon request for those in need of extra pampering.
