Flocons de Sel
The Flocons de Sel’s recent switch in location, 4km from the centre of town, was both to develop more space for guests to stay and to create a more modern contemporary feel, thereby making it one of the most exclusive boutique hotels in Megève. Reopened in 2009 by chef and entrepreneur Emmanuel Renaut, the hotel’s six rooms, two chalet suites and apartment are all beautifully decorated with modern furniture and furnishings working alongside the traditional bare wooden walls. There is a green agenda too with close attention paid to a sustainable way of living. The two Michelin-starred restaurant is the most feted in town, serving a very haute French cuisine and a cheaper bistro version is available closer to the centre. Even the spa reflects the culinary aspirations of Renaut, the massage oils are made using local herbs and plants and the treatments include dessert masks of grape sorbet and caramel coulis. Finally, for those not interested in skiing Renaut runs a cooking school from Flocons offering afternoon courses on anything from mountain herbs to cooking with mushrooms.
