Les Flocons de Sel
This establishment has deservedly earned itself a spot among the top restaurants in Megève. The Flocons de Sel is part of double Michelin-starred chef Emmanuel Renaut’s culinary-based empire. Located in the eponymous hotel, 4km from the centre of Megève, the Flocons de Sel serves up haute French cuisine that uses locally-sourced produce (local fishermen and home distillers) and herbs and plants foraged from the mountains. Renaut originally trained in Paris and began his career at the Hotel Crillon in Paris before ending up at Claridge’s in London. The restaurant mirrors the hotel in its modern approach to design while retaining a wonderful intimacy with huge windows looking out over the valley. There is an affordable set menu on offer, or for those big spenders with big trousers a 10-course tasting menu, that lasts the best part of two and a half hours, for a mere 130 euros. In Megève itself is the wonderful Flocons Village – a simple bistro offering more simple regional cooking.
