The Swedish-owned, Moscow located, Katerina City hotel is divided into two sections – a 19th-century building that was completely renovated in 1998 and a modern European-style building with a contemporary Scandinavian interior.
rnLocated at the end of the island just south of the Kremlin, the hotel has charming views of the Novspasskiy Monastery across the Moscow River. The 120 rooms (66 singles, 44 doubles and 10 suites) are all warm, clean and brightly decorated, with modern furniture. The hotel is clearly designed for a business clientele, with all the mod-cons, but it is at the same time comfortable and intimate.
rnThe big leather chairs next to the fireplace in the Library on the top floor are especially inviting after a day out in the cold. And the hotel restaurants offer Russian, Scandinavian and European cuisine. The rates include breakfast and entrance to the fitness centre, should you feel inclined to work off the previous night’s excesses.
