The old Bayview Bar is now called the Eau Bar – having re-opened after the terror attacks that closed The Oberoi hotel for 17 months. The new look is sophisticated and smart but the overall ambience is ever-so-slightly underwhelming. The Eau Bar is a slick spot for a cocktail but depending on the time you set foot into it, and whether the jazz musicians are performing or not, it can feel a little empty.
The Eau Bar also clearly appeals to the slightly milder hedonist as the atmosphere is a little too quiet for anyone raucous (or in their 20’s) who is in search of a big night out. But as part of The Oberoi the service is impeccable, the décor swish but naturally, expect to pay 5-star prices.
