Hg2 : The Hedonist

The Presbytere

The Presbytere building is centuries old, but the exhibit inside is as up-to-date as a pointed satirical theme at a Carnival parade. Mardi Gras is the museum’s subject, and the exhibit covers the celebration of both the city’s elite and the African-Americans who mask themselves in sequined and beaded Indian attire. The rural Cajuns are not neglected, and exhibits give details on their custom of riding horseback in costume and capturing chickens for a communal pot of gumbo. The museum is housed in the Presbytere, or priests’ house, located to the right of the St. Louis Cathedral.
