Hell’s Kitchen has been gentrifying at a breakneck speed of late and Ardesia is just one of the many happy by-products of the area’s evolution. This chic neighbourhood wine bar offers over thirty wines by the glass, not to mention an extensive list of wines available by the bottle.
Outside, there’s a patio where locals gather to soak up the sun and happily drink their way through the Ardesia’s curated collection of wines. While inside, the candlelight gently illuminates the elegantly industrial space, with its eye-catching two-storey ‘wine wall’ that looms over the beautiful Venetian marble bar.
Ardesia offers a menu of artisanal cheeses and charcuterie to accompany the wines, as well as a tempting assortment of salads, sandwiches and bar snacks. We’re talking quail egg toasts, chunky NY-style pretzels, seared flank steak with salsa verde, rich caesar salad, and hearty pastrami sandwiches with lashings of sauerkraut and mustard. But for all the mouthwatering food on offer, never doubt that it’s the wine here that takes centre stage.
