The Future Perfect
An innovative design store in New York, The Future Perfect is known and relied on for its ever-expanding collections and collaborations. Not to mention its almost prescient ability to source up-and-coming talent; future perfect, indeed. This is thanks, in large part, to David Alhadeff who founded The Future Perfect in Williamsburg back in 2003. The Future Perfect has since moved across the river to its current, light-filled space in Lower Manhattan, which is at one and the same time a gallery, shop, and talent showcase. There’s also a similarly chic outpost in San Francisco, for those who find themselves out west.
Those shopping (or just ambling through the space) at The Future Perfect, either in-store or online, may find anything from neri&hu Shaker Tables to Waxing Gibbous mirrors from Michael Anastassiades. There are rugs from Atelier Février, like the Nazar embellished with an ancient motif said to repel the “evil eye” made from Tibetan wool and Chinese silk, and even paint-splattered-effect Goddard Armchairs (“Drippy” and “Splat”), which were designed for The Future Perfect by Russell Pinch using Martyn Thompson Studio fabric.
A visit here is ideal for a crash course in contemporary design; The Future Perfect will introduce you to new designers and boundless lust-worthy pieces, some of which you’ll struggle to leave behind in Alhadeff’s beautiful store.
