Hg2 : The Hedonist

Castel

Amanda Lear first met Salvador Dali at Castel, which rivalled Regine as the swingingest hang-out in 1960s Paris. New owners took over at the end of the Nineties, and paid their respects to its late founder by changing very little: the warren of red-velvet salons and two restaurants continue to provide an intimate St-Germain watering hole for film and fashion people and, unless you’re Jack Nicholson or Jack White, you’d better know a regular if you want to join in. The music policy is angled towards disco and funk – nothing too moody – and there’s an unofficial dress code of relaxed chic for her and a decent suit for him. Dinner is served from 9pm, and the nightclub kicks off at midnight.
