Statni Opera Praha
Internally similar to the other opera houses in Prague, the State Opera House has lavishrngold and red furnishings decorated with ornate baroque swirls, it is to be found at the top end of Wenceslas Square, close to the National Museum.
rnOperas are staged every day, the majority Italian, with Verdi a firm favourite. Occasionally works by German and Russian composers add a little variety to the bill.
rnWhile the House itself is a wee walk from the centre, the experience is well worth the journey, and can be combined with a trip to the Zahrada v Opere, one of Prague’s finest restaurants (found in the same complex). The box office is on the left, and tickets are available from the foyer as well on the evening of the performance.
