Found in the same arcade as the popular butcher shop, Naše Maso, Sisters is in an area well-known for its food and still manages to stand out from the crowd. Open from breakfast through to early dinner, the cosy bistro specialises in chlebíček, the Czech open-faced sandwich. Here, it comes in all manner of delicious iterations. There’s herring with wasabi mayonnaise and spiky pickled red onions, and salmon and soft cheese. There’s a caviar sandwich, which comes piled high with potato salad, egg and salmon caviar and herbs. There are ones with prawns and avocado. Others with beetroot and goat’s cheese. There are even salads, soups, and other nourishing options. You see, here the food is fresh and well-made and so good you don’t even notice that it’s pretty healthy too.
There are also plenty of drinks to wash it all down with, from coffees and teas to fresher options like lemonade – you’ll see them all on the chalkboard. While on the petite side, Sisters nevertheless feels larger, thanks to how light and airy the space is – with its big windows and plenty of gleaming reflective surfaces, from the food counter to the copper light fixtures above. It’s a lovely place to grab a quick bite to eat during the day, or linger over your chlebíček if you’ve got an hour or two to space. These might be light bites, but they’re deeply nourishing. And, thanks to their commitment to using organic and local ingredients wherever possible, satisfying to both wallet, stomach and soul.
