Despite its location inside the Mandarin Oriental hotel, Essensia is far from being among one of the stuffy or conservative restaurants in Prague. Comprising five adjoining rooms crowned by vaulted ceilings, the main rooms offer a soft-hued elegance and an urbanity that is reflected in its subtly refined food.
A combination of Asian and modern European cuisine enlivens the menu, executed with authenticity rather than with the prevalent ethos of trendy fusion cooking. The dishes, immaculately presented, are highly memorable, suffused with fresh ingredients and wonderful sauces.
There is an extensive wine list that offers vintages from France, Italy and the New World, as well as an exclusive selection from the best regional wineries. Service is as punctilious as you’d expect from a five-star environment, although it’s also nicely informal. A wonderful dining experience in a high-end setting.
