Old Town Square
Old Town Square is the city’s awe-inspiring focal point, and it is worth enduring the thronging masses to visit one of the most fantastic sights in Prague. Looking like a beautiful film set, bordered by elegant façades representing a bewildering mixture of architectural periods, it exudes an eternal, fairy-tale quality, enhanced by a run of terrific buildings: the Gothic Tyn church, the unique Astronomical Clock, the 14th-century Old Town Hall, and the baroque St Nicholas Church.
rnTourists throng the square day and night, congregating around the clock to photograph, document and experience its incredibly short, and somewhat pitiful, hourly rigmarole. Take the time to climb to the top of the Old Town Hall tower (next to the clock) for a panoramic vista across the city.
