Talk about an enviable location: the Michelangelo Hotel is found a stone’s throw from Vatican City. Heck, you can even see the dome of St Peter’s from here. Inside the hotel, classic elegance reigns supreme, from the serene, velvet-bedecked Dome bar (an ideal spot for an aperitif) to the sophisticated dining room of the Dome restaurant, strewn with plant-filled urns and decorated in soft greys. Offering Roman and international cuisine throughout the day, the Dome’s dishes (the result of a collaboration between Eataly and Starhotels) can even be ordered to the guestrooms as room service, for those who can’t quite drag themselves away from the comfort of the hotel’s signature, sumptuous Starbeds.
Much like the other hotels in Starhotels’ stylish stable, the Michelangelo Hotel’s 179 rooms and suites are decorated with chic furnishings and an unobtrusive colour palette (think shades of cappuccino, cream and russet). And while the rooms vary in size, even the most bijou offers a generous splash of style, thanks to the wall-sized black and white drawings of iconic Roman sights behind the headboards. On the other end of the size spectrum, meanwhile, the suites add plenty of extra square footage in the form of separate living and bedroom areas.
