Hg2 : The Hedonist

Al Bric

Al Bric is one of the quietly fabulous places to eat in Rome, tucked away behind the raucous Campo dei Fiori. Inside is a cosy affair with exposed brick and idiosyncratic decorative details, which give you the impression that this is a genuinely secret find. Wine merchant Roberto Marchetti’s family has been in the game for four generations, and the expertise shows with the 1,000 strong selection of wines. The menu is firmly orientated around the combined pleasures of cheese and wine, which slip down wonderfully with the home-made grissini breadsticks. Creative and mouth-watering pasta and risotto feature on the seasonal menu, and certainly do not disappoint. Frequented by a mature Italian cognoscenti crowd who are serious about their vino, and other harbingers of culinary taste. Booking is highly recommended, and the dining rooms are deliciously cosy in winter.
