When it comes to wine, the sisters and owners of Enoteca Ferrara, Lina and Maria, certainly know their stuff but this is one of the restaurants in Rome where food seems to come as something of an afterthought. Enoteca Ferrara is winner of Best Enoteca in Italy in 2003, and vinophiles will adore the encyclopaedic selection of international wines, served in six specially designed types of glass. Perhaps the food takes second place because they are such slaves to the ambrosial grape. Consider going for dinner here as an expensive way of lining your stomach while experiencing some shamanistic wine enlightenment. You’d be better off enjoying a lip-smacking meal in a down-at-heel trattoria for half the price if your stomach is pining for pasta.
