If you’re a serious skier then you’ll have to venture a way out of the city for anything resembling an Alpine slope. However, for a day’s amusement, beginning in some cases with a long, early morning bus ride, decent snow at the right time of year isn’t a million miles away. Reliable information is available at www.skiinfo.se.

Located 40km south of the city and intended for the unambitious skier, since the runs are fairly tame. Don’t make this more than a day trip.

This man-made slope just south of Södermalm is easily accessible from the city. It has great views over the town and surrounding area, and you can easily spend some time exploring the small but fascinating town of Hammarby Sjöstad.

Great for the avid snowboarder, this resort features an impressive half-pipe. To get here you should arrive in Stockholm before the weekend, since the bus leaves at 7am on Saturdays and Sundays to give you time for about 6 hours of snow action.
