The long-serving Hollywood is Corso Como’s kingpin – famous for being frequented by famous people, famous as one of the last clubs in Milan to close (unofficially 6am), and famous for the gaggles of international models that come on a nightly basis (where they can dance off their excess ‘energy’ till the very end).
rnEveryone benefits: models receive free passes and VIP treatment, civilians get to see a beauty pageant, and the stars get exposure on Hollywood’s Hall of Fame – brass plaques that line the entrance. A king of reinvention since opening in 1986, it refurbishes every year, always somewhat eccentrically: here, pagan gods and gold snakes.
rnMusically it follows the trends of London and Berlin with rock, house and rap (although still pretty commercial); ‘Pervert Night’ on Wednesdays is a little more risqué with transsexual go-go dancers. Its best feature is the two-way mirror between the boys’ and girls’ lavatories, where narcissistic Italian men obliviously preen and pose. Hollywood also owns the less remarkable club Casablanca Café (Corso Como, 14; tel: 02 626 901 86).
