Sigari Maja (Davidoff)
Walking into Sigari Maja is like entering a surreal world – from the bustling medieval square straight into a London gentleman’s club. A cigar lounge specializing in Dominican (Davidoff) cigars, you enter through a corridor past the main shop/humidor and friendly reception desk into a large room done up in the plutocratic style of a Churchillian hideaway – thick armchairs clustered in intimate groups, open fires and low lighting.
rnBuilt inside a beautiful 16th-century room, there is just enough Renaissance-style eccentricity to raise this cigar lounge above stuffy and sombre – although there are usually plenty of suits and serious conversations in the thick of the room that provide great opportunities for eavesdroppers.
rnA smaller lounge at the back houses the bar, for a range of whiskies, cognacs and other cigar-friendly tipples.
