Pirita TOP Spa
Inside a monstrous concrete structure that might have been built in the 1970s to welcome an alien landing, the Pirita TOP Spa is really a summer place – situated next to Pirita beach, Tallinn’s summer hang-out 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of town.
Once inside the flaking, gargantuan exterior the foyer is reassuringly clean and warm, with the look (and smell) of a vast sports centre, complete with gym and swimming pool. The Top SPA is essentially a residential health and fitness centre, frequented by sports teams and aging Finns alike, who come here for the amazing range of health treatments, therapies and massage as well as the great facilities and summery location.
Sauna and pool are included in the price of the room, while use of the gym comes at a 50% discount for guests. Rooms are simple, modern and fresh, with fantastic views of the sea – although you are still 1km walk from the action at the beach. And it has possibly the longest corridors of any building you will ever see.
