Art is often used as the representational bridge between past, present, and future. It is a medium through which one can visualise and present their own interpretive timeline. Itai Mintz, who studied 3 D design at the Holon Institute of Technology prior to launching an accessories line named after his Thessalonikian Grandfather, embodies this visual study of time. Using tribal motif through the lens of contemporary art, Mintz utilizes sophisticated approach to jewellery that induces thoughts of the primitive and the modern.
In Novus Tribus, the newest collection in the Darios line, Itai set out to manifest wedding jewellery for his vision of a tribe from the future. The collection is characterised by hard and masculine shapes and materials, combined with soft and feminine motives. Raw metals, plastic, wood, crystals, satin ribbons and screws transform into a new tribal geometric appearance. The ‘waste-land’ ingredients form part of the dystopian setting in which his visionary tribe lives. Darios is clearly a concept-driven brand, yet one whose products are accessible and enticing to all.
