The InterContinental is perhaps the most established hotel in Almaty. As the Hyatt withdrew from its partnership with the Rahat Palace in early 2011, it is now the longest present international hotel chain in the city. Strategically set in the lower corner of Respublika Square, it is an easy journey to both the Business District and the old centre of town. The Turkish management explains the always-conscientious service, particularly at the concierge desk where the staff makes a real effort to help those in a city less-travelled. The rooms are everything you expect them to be, decorated in a smart classical style and offering all the perks of a five-star hotel. A magnificent spa and gym is available to guests, as well a whole array of restaurants and bars. Among them the Bosphorus serves excellent Turkish food, and the Sunday brunch – served in the Tennis Bar & Restaurant outside in summer – is not to be missed.
