South of Temperance
A pickpocket would have a field day in here: fat wallets parked in countless suits are crammed into this freestanding holding area between the monolithic structures of Downtown. The summertime patio is particularly popular with beer-holding executives eyeing business babes with cocktails.
Inside, a central square bar quenches the masses and female waitresses in tight clothing squeeze their way to tables. Although not the primary source of fuel for the clientele, food is aplenty and North American in provenance: chicken wings, burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches, and one or two fancier dinnertime dishes, too.
If it’s too loud and busy for you, try the weekends when all you’ll hear are crickets. Incidentally, the name is a rather convoluted reference to the parallel-running Temperance Street – once an alcohol-free zone.
